Changing the narrative

Welcome to my new blog, started as part of my campaign to be the next Labour MP for Whangarei. At this stage I simply want to introduce myself to those who've stumbled upon this site. In Whangarei there is a group of lawyers, all of whom have a strong sense of social justice. We all work in areas where poverty, unemployment, disenfranchised youth and violence prevail. We all live in this great town and run small businesses. We all have children who struggle to find opportunities. We all believe that a Labour Government and a local Labour MP will help address the inequalities. We are disgusted that current government would sell our assets at a time when there is an overwhelming desire by New Zealanders to retain them. Our desire to change the current narrative has meant that we have formed a growing group of more than a dozen professional advocates who want to work for this change. I am honoured and humbled that these people have decided to nominate me for the Labour Candidacy in the coming election. I look forward to a vigorous campaign to get into Parliament and am grateful for the support which allows me to say: OUR CAMPAIGN HAS BEGUN.
